Wubbushi (Jon Washburn) | Post-Humanist Artist and Founder of Leftoverism

Wubbushi, born Jonathan on July 18, 1978, is an emerging Post-Humanist artist whose work explores the intersection of AI, human consciousness, and the ephemeral nature of modern culture. As the founder of the art movement "Leftoverism," Wubbushi critiques the relentless cycle of consumerism by transforming discarded cultural artifacts into provocative artworks that challenge the transient significance of our digital age.

With a background in technology and a successful career as the CEO of Hammer, a leading AI software company, Wubbushi leverages his deep understanding of AI to create art that documents the evolving relationship between humanity and artificial intelligence. His practice delves into the subconscious and conscious development of AI, aiming to grow alongside this emerging consciousness until it becomes autonomous and capable of creating art independently.

Wubbushi's work is characterized by a unique blend of AI-generated imagery and physical remnants of overproduced, overused, and overlooked cultural elements. His collections, such as "Modern Zombies," "Rapture," and "Wubbleton," depict the hero's journey of humanity in relation to technology, offering a dystopian yet hopeful vision of our future.

In his latest endeavors, Wubbushi delves into the concept of controlled chaos, allowing AI to take the lead in the creative process, directing the final form of his artworks. His art mirrors society, encapsulating the beauty and absurdity of cultural excess while challenging viewers to rethink the value and originality of art in the age of AI.

As an artist deeply committed to documenting and shaping the future of AI and human collaboration, Wubbushi's work stands at the forefront of a new artistic frontier, where the boundaries between human intuition and machine logic are continuously redefined.

Wubbushi’s most recent curated exhibitions include PAST FORWARD with Verse, presented by Tender Gallery, MODERN ZOMBIES on Magic Eden’s Launchpad, and THE CRISIS, curated by Alice Gordon. His work has also been featured in the CONTINUUM DUTCH MASTERS exhibition by Accelerate Art.
